It Moves Forward: The Work of Richard Hamilton

Richard Hamilton, Release, 1972 © R. Hamilton. All Rights Reserved, DACS 2019
Saturday 20 July 2019 - Saturday 26 October 2019

Richard Hamilton is considered one of the founding fathers of Pop Art. Often thought of as an American style, many believe that Pop Art actually originated in Britain with Hamilton’s ground-breaking use of advertising images and collage in the 1950s.

This exhibition draws from private and public collections to bring together works from over 30 years of Hamilton’s career. It Moves Forward demonstrates the breadth and depth of Hamilton’s uniquely critical, gritty and humorous approach to mass culture.
