Family Fun at Sheffield Museums this Summer

Come rain or shine, join us at our sites for a fantastic, free family day out this summer!

We’ve got lots of activities planned to keep our younger visitors entertained throughout the holidays. Get creative in one of our Discovery Days sessions and explore a new topic each week - from Sheffield Inventions to Victorian Crafts. Click a venue below to find out more about Discovery Days at each site:

Over at the Millennium Gallery, create your own gloriously imaginative and colourful masterpiece in our Play With Paint sessions inspired by Sheffield-born artist John Hoyland. Use all sorts of tools to create your painting – paper straws, lollipop sticks, tissue paper, string… but NO paintbrushes!

Don't forget to look out for the Bears of Sheffield when you visit the Millennium Gallery, Weston Park Museum and Kelham Island Museum. Which one will be your favourite?

You can fuel up with food at our onsite cafes, or bring a picnic to enjoy outside. Don’t worry if the weather isn’t playing along – we have an indoor picnic area available at Weston Park Museum. It's currently available via ticketed entry to help manage numbers – just ask a member of staff in the foyer for your free ticket.

Entry to all of our sites is now free and there is no need to pre-book. There are free car parks at both Kelham Island Museum and Abbeydale Industrial Hamlet. The nearest car park to Weston Park Museum is the Q-Park on Durham RoadVisitors using this car park and the Q Park car park on Charles Street for the Millennium Gallery are able to claim 50% off the price of their parking – just ask a member of staff for a discount voucher.
