Join local artist Conor Rogers for a tour of the latest exhibition to open at the Millennium Gallery, Creative Connections Sheffield.
Hear how Connor worked with students at Sheffield Park Academy during the exhibition planning – together they considered the people who inspire them, and their connections to Sheffield. Each student responded uniquely to these themes, creating work which reflects their individual sense of place and identity. This also led to a series of quotes accompanying the artworks and the creation of a bus shelter installation, a striking feature in the exhibition.
Conor Rogers is an award-winning Sheffield based artist and graduate of Sheffield Hallam University. He was shortlisted for the John Moores painting prize 2014 and in 2015 was selected to exhibit in the Bloomberg New Contemporaries. In 2019 Conor was named as the 1st Prize winner of the Robert Walters Group UK Young Artist of the Year Award held at the Saatchi Gallery London. His debut solo show Manor Boy was exhibited at Yorkshire Artspace, Sheffield in 2021 as part of the Freeland’s Foundation residency program Platform 20.
This tour is part of the programme of events complementing the exhibition Creative Connections Sheffield, at Millennium Gallery until Sunday 2nd October. It showcases portraits of people connected to Sheffield – from pioneers and performers to athletes and artists – presenting works from the National Portrait Gallery and Sheffield’s own collections.
