Discover some amazing Bear sculptures on the Bears of Sheffield trail and join us at the Millennium Gallery to take part in activities put together by Sheffield Museums, Sheffield Theatres and Site Gallery.

Create Sheffield are also offering families the chance to complete their Arts Award Discover in a Day for free by taking part in these activities and there are prizes for participation! Suitable for ages 5-11.

We have created time slots throughout the day to help us manage numbers in the Millennium Gallery. Kindly select tickets for every member of your family attending (adults, children and babies). We look forward to seeing you there!

Activities

  • Join artist Geo Law for an interactive digital art workshop. Taking the Sheffield Bear Trail as inspiration you will have the opportunity to create your own original artwork and transform it into a digital illustration. Throughout the day we will collect your contributions and add them to our digital bears showreel that will be protected onto the walls of Millennium Gallery. There will also be live demonstrations of Adobe Photoshop throughout the day. Geo Law is an artist and illustrator based in London but hails from Sheffield. He has created work for clients such as Walt Disney, Google, The New York Times and Facebook with his colourful characters, animated gifs and vibrant murals. Geo’s art process involves drawing whether using pens or his iPad Pro he uses a mixture of these techniques to create his illustrations via Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator and Procreate.
  • Celebrate the arrival of Sheffield’s bears with us! You can help us create some giant bear art that might even go on display at Weston Park Museum – as well as making your own bear paintings to take home, in the experimental and colourful style of John Hoyland! All materials will be supplied.
  • Create your own story for our Bears of Sheffield and act out your script with performers on a stage!

Children's University Credits
Children can also gain Children's University credits if you have a Passport to Learning by taking part in the Bears of Sheffield trail and completing their activity challenge. Visit their website for more information.

Bears of Sheffield
The Bears of Sheffield will help fund a new Cancer and Leukaemia Ward at Sheffield Children’s through donations, merchandise, sponsorship challenges and fundraising throughout the trail. At the end the big Bears will be auctioned off to the highest bidder to raise money and the little ones will return back to their nursery, school or college! You can help raise money during the Bears of Sheffield by donating, taking part in an event or registering for a fundraising pack. More info can be found at  the Bears of Sheffield website and by following on social media at @bearsofsheffield to keep up to date with the trail.
