Unfortunately due to unforeseen circumstances this talk has been cancelled.

Join David Alston in this series of talks exploring the exhibition Lines of Beauty: Master Drawings from Chatsworth.

Drawing and Understanding looks at how a drawing brings us into the spontaneous workings of the artists’ mind: What were they looking for? What do they connect us to? How do drawings bring us into an intimate world of immediacy for each artist?

David is leading two talks during the run of the exhibition. Each talk will take a closer look at one aspect of the exhibition, focussing on a selection of the drawings on display.

David Alston was Deputy Director of Arts in Sheffield before becoming Keeper of Art in the National Museums of Wales. He subsequently led the Lowry development in Salford before returning to work in Wales as Arts Director for the Arts Council of Wales. He was awarded an M.B.E in the New Year’s Honours list.
