Unforunately due to unforeseen circumstances this talk has been cancelled.

Join David Alston in this series of talks exploring the exhibition Lines of Beauty: Master Drawings from Chatsworth.

Drawing and the Everyday will look at how and when drawings become a staple form of expression with renaissance and later artists, how and when collections of drawings began, and how they were valued as documentation of artists and their work.

David is leading two talks during the run of the exhibition. Each talk will take a closer look at one aspect of the exhibition, focussing on a selection of the drawings on display.

David Alston was Deputy Director of Arts in Sheffield before becoming Keeper of Art in the National Museums of Wales. He subsequently led the Lowry development in Salford before returning to work in Wales as Arts Director for the Arts Council of Wales. He was awarded an M.B.E in the New Year’s Honours list.
