**Due to unavoidable circumstances, this event has now moved online. Please go to the Museums Sheffield Facebook Live page on Wednesday 2st October at 1pm to tune into the talk. We apologise for any inconvenience.**

Join Professor Angie Hobbs and Professor Cathy Shrank as they examine how many of the works in the exhibition — particularly those depicting classical narratives — show the restraint, or punishment, of desire.

The talk will look at the common motif of Venus scolding Cupid, as well as exploring the darker undercurrents in the stories of Callisto and Diana, and the use of horses as emblems of human will and desire.
