Manor Makers: Base Materials is an exhibition exploring the relevance of the British heritage craft of wood firing pots in our contemporary urban environment.

For this exhibition, artist and potter, Emilie Taylor, led a group of adults experiencing great change in their lives to explore the metaphor of turning mud into gold, the alchemy of materials and its power to affect our sense of self.

Join Emilie to consider connections to Carl Jung’s ideas about alchemy and individuation, the importance of play, creativity and materials and how her training as an Art Therapist, combined with experience as a drug and alcohol worker and a potter, influenced her approach to this project.
