Join Professor Vanessa Toulmin, co-curator of our Circus! exhibition, for this illustrated talk on the charismatic and trail blazer women who have defined circus over the past 250 years, covering feats of strength, agility and skill.

Discover Zazel, the first human cannonball act, Lulu Adams one of the first female clowns and the mesmerising power of Koringa, female Fakir.

Their stories will enchant, inspire and confound as we take a journey through the women that made circus that were part of circus history from Patty Astley the first women to perform in the ring to the all women troupes in modern circus.
