Omar Ramsden: Silver Designer

This new display marks the 140th anniversary of the birth of silversmith Omar Ramsden (1873-1939), one of the leading designers of English silverware.
Ramsden and fellow Sheffield-born designer Alwyn Carr (1872-1940) formed one of the most successful silversmithing partnerships of the 20th century. Relocating to London and employing a talented team of skilled engravers, chasers and enamellers, the duo’s designs became hugely acclaimed during the early 1900s.
The display features several examples of Ramsden & Carr’s work, with more on show in the Metalwork Collection.
