Christopher Dresser: Pioneer of Modern Design
Christopher Dresser (1834–1904) designed products that were radical in their time and still look contemporary today. He is thought of as the first independent industrial designer and is recognised as a pioneer of modern product design.
This display showcases a selection of Dresser’s work, including innovative and striking homeware products, designs and photographs.
This project was created to support DesignLab Nation, the V&A’s National Schools Programme, that aims to inspire the next generation of designers and expand the reach of the V&A collections. The programme brings together secondary schools in partnership with regional museums, local designers and the V&A.
