Introduction to Discover Course

Discover course is a free 7 – 10 week course designed to inspire adults living in the Sheffield area to progress with their learning. It is designed for people who are:
- thinking about studying towards a degree
- interested in meeting new people
- keen to visit local museums and galleries
- wanting to build their confidence, improve their conversational English and learn new skills.
The course provides a friendly and informal opportunity for participants to discover more about the key themes of Community, Environment, Education and Progression through thought-provoking discussion and activities, including exploring the treasures held at Weston Park Museum and other Museums Sheffield sites.
What participants have said about Discover:
"One of the best things about the course was that it built my confidence around returning to study"
“It opens up opportunities”
“What the course is doing … stretching your own imagination. And making your own dreams more realistic”.
The course is run by The Department for Lifelong Learning at the University of Sheffield, in partnership with Museums Sheffield and SAVTE (Sheffield Association for the Voluntary Teaching of English).
