Held at the Millennium Gallery, Handmade for Christmas is Sheffield Museums’ annual selling showcase celebrating the breadth of British contemporary craft.

The show, which focuses on selling original high-quality craft and design by talented makers, is open from 29 October to 24 December 2021. The festive season is the Millennium Gallery’s busiest retail period – in 2019 over 30,000 people visited Handmade for Christmas.

Handmade for Christmas 2021 will include handcrafted work in Ceramics, Glass, Jewellery, Metal work, Paper, Textiles & Wood, spanning ranges from either one-off pieces or small-scale productions, with works available at a variety of price points. All work featured in the showcase is included on a sale or return basis.

Applications to be part of Handmade for Christmas are open to UK-based craftspersons or designer-makers. We are keen to feature new makers to Handmade for Christmas based within 100 miles radius of Sheffield, with special regard to Yorkshire Makers who produce high quality, innovative, contemporary work. We would particularly welcome applications from makers from diverse backgrounds who are currently under represented in the craft sector.

As well as providing a platform for work by independent artists, makers and creators, Handmade for Christmas also raises vital funds to support Sheffield Museums’ work as a charity, ensuring the city’s museums and galleries are free and open for everyone to enjoy.
