Makers Open Call Out

Held at the Millennium Gallery, Handmade for Christmas is Museums Sheffield’s annual selling showcase celebrating the diversity of British contemporary craft.

The show, which focuses on selling high quality craft and design by talented makers, is open from 25 October to 29 December 2019. The festive season is the Millennium Gallery’s busiest retail period – last year 37,000 people visited Handmade for Christmas.

This year, Handmade for Christmas will include Ceramics, Glass, Jewellery, Metal work, Textiles & Wood, and span handcrafted product ranges to limited editions and one-off, pieces, with works available at a variety of price points. All work featured in the showcase is included on a sale or return basis.

Applications to be part of Handmade for Christmas are open to any UK-based craftsperson or designer-maker. We are particularly looking for makers based within 100 miles of Sheffield who produce high quality, innovative, contemporary work.

As well as providing a platform for work by independent artists, makers and craftspeople, Handmade for Christmas also raises vital funds to support Museums Sheffield work as a charity, ensuring the city’s museums and galleries are free and open for everyone to enjoy.
