Tinsley Time and Travel (2017-2018) is an exciting Heritage Lottery Funded project, run by the Community Heritage team at Heeley City Farm and local partners.

Today Tinsley is a post-industrial suburb on the border between Sheffield and Rotherham. It has a fantastic but little studied history of occupation going back to the Bronze Age! This project has divided the whole history of Tinsley into 9 chronological sections and is using lots of events, work with groups, talks, art, memory collection and more to share and discover together Tinsley's amazing history.

The earliest evidence we have of people in Tinsley is the Bronze Age boat, found in Tinsley in the 1960's and on display in Weston Park Museum. Hear about the history of Tinsley and how we are sharing this through the project. We will also launch our first display in the museum's learning window - which includes a fantastic ceramic plaque made by people in Tinsley to celebrate the boat.
