As shown by recent media coverage, the place of ivory in museums collections is a subject which continues to inspire debate.

As part of the exhibition Stories from the East, join Dr Holly Trusted, Senior Curator of Sculpture at the Victoria and Albert Museum, and Kim Streets, Chief Executive at Museums Sheffield as they discuss some of the ethical considerations in the acquisition and display of ivory.

Dr Holly Trusted has lectured and published widely on sculpture, including the catalogue of the V&A’s baroque and later ivories (2013), the catalogue of European ambers (1985), as well as the catalogue of German renaissance medals (1990) and Spanish sculpture (1996) at the V&A. She also co-wrote the catalogue of British sculpture at the V&A (2002). She was the founding editor of The Sculpture Journal, and is a Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries.
