Meet two of the artists behind the Tramlines Gig Poster Show, and watch them in action as Tom J Newell and Jo Peel get live drawing at the Millennium Gallery. See their original drawings and sketchbooks, and find out more about how they work. If you are feeling inspired, there will be free drawing materials on hand for you to have a go yourself.

Artist Jo Peel is a painter, printmaker, animator, film maker and a rising star of the UK contemporary art movement. For the Tramlines Gig Poster Show, she has done a poster for Slow Club. Jo’s work is rooted in a poetic urban architecture, capturing intimate elements of the city landscape at moments which could be recent history or perhaps a post-apocalyptic future.

Tom J Newell is one of the co-curators of the Tramlines Gig Poster Show, and has hand-picked the lineup of internationally renowned illustrators, designers and artists for the exhibition. He is an artist and illustrator himself, and has made a poster for the The Gaslamp Killer for the show.

This event is part of Drawing the Summer, a programme of exhibitions, events, and have-a-go activities to get Sheffield sketching morning, noon and night. From careful botanical drawings to super speedy charcoal sketches, awaken your inner artist and polish up your creative skills. Take a fresh look at the things around you and capture the moment or let your imagination roam.
