When War broke out in 1914, Sheffield was home to five of the world’s leading armaments manufacturers. Chris Corker of Sheffield Hallam University looks at the overseas customers of these firms, the visit in June 1914 by the head of the German armaments company of Krupps to Sheffield, and the impact the war had on their business.
