In 2013 Sheffield is celebrating the centenary Harry Brearley's discovery of stainless steel in the city. Join us for a hands-on session exploring invention, discovery and design inspired by Brearley's remarkable breakthrough and handle objects from Sheffield's renowned collection of historic and contemporary metalwork.

Designed to Shine forms part of 100 Years of Stainless Steel, a year-long celebratory events programme commemorating this historic landmark and reaffirming the legacy of innovation which still exists in the city today. The celebrations have been brought together by a city-wide arts and heritage partnership including Marketing Sheffield, The Company of Cutlers, Museums Sheffield, Sheffield Industrial Museums Trust and both Sheffield Hallam University and The University of Sheffield.
