The Star newspaper 125th Anniversary

© The Star
Tuesday 2 October 2012 - Sunday 4 November 2012

A lot has changed in Sheffield over the last 125 years - there have been triumphs, tragedies, tears and tantrums. The Star has been there throughout recording progress and reporting news that rocked our city and sometimes the world.

Follow the paper's development and read original headlines on everything from the first electric tram, Sheffield's original colour TV, visits by royals as far back as Queen Victoria and the only British newspaper man to drop by parachute behind the German 'Western Wall'. To mark The Star's 125th anniversary there's also a chance to test your own knowledge of the Steel City's past and present.
