Work in Focus: The Battle of Waterloo

The Morning of the Battle of Waterloo by Ernest Crofts, 1876 © Museums Sheffield
Tuesday 2 June 2015 - Saturday 29 August 2015

2015 marks the 200th anniversary of the Battle of Waterloo, the outcome of which proved instrumental in shaping modern Europe.

This 1876 painting by Ernest Crofts, restored with help from the Friends of Museums Sheffield, depicts the morning before Napoleon’s downfall. Items from the National Army Museum’s collection will also feature alongside the painting, including Napoleon’s own watch.
