Rebecca Holmes won the Knitted Textile Student Awards in 2007 for the Down Mexico Way collection.

The collection was inspired by the romantic associations of Mexican art and folk traditions. The materials and knotting techniques refer to the practice of saddle decoration amongst wealthy Mexican cowboys. The use of colour was inspired by the jewel-like colours in the paintings of Frida Kahlo.

Image shows work by knitting designer Rebecca Holmes made from beige branded leather, cotton, knitting, knotting and macramé in a variety of yarns and bright colours.
