Cast Off Knitting Club for Boys and Girls

Cast Off Knitting Club for Boys and Girls
Cast Off was founded by Rachael Matthews, promoting knitting as a contemporary hobby for everybody by holding public knitting events in unusual places. They held events on the London Underground, in nightclubs and parks and were even thrown out of the Savoy hotel just for knitting, what a subversive craft!

Cast Off tapped into the zeitgeist, getting media attention and inspiring many new knitters and groups.

The Knitted Wedding
Amateurs and professionals knitted and submitted everything needed for this wedding. The happy couple even emerged through an arch of oversized knitting needles!

Rachael Matthews conceived this union of knitting and marriage and ran the campaign for the exhibition Ceremony at Pump House Gallery in London. Ceremony was curated by artist Freddie Robins who also agreed to be the bride.
