Terms and conditions
By signing the Declaration in the Application Form you will be confirming that you have read and clearly understood the Entry Procedures and the Terms and Conditions and that you consent to be bound by the conditions laid out therein.
 
1. Eligibility
i. The National Metalwork Design Award is open to individuals resident in the UK working with metals on a design or arts and crafts basis. This includes: professional and amateur artists, designers and craftspeople; tutors who have taught or are currently teaching metalwork and design courses; students that are taking metalwork and art courses at higher education and degree levels and individuals working for a design company that produce metal lifestyle goods.

ii. All applicants must be able to demonstrate relevant skill and knowledge of the artistic process and show craftsmanship, creativity and imagination in their approach to metalwork production, design and making.
 
2. Care and Return of the Work
i. The shortlist of 12 works chosen by the selection panel to exhibit in the Millennium Gallery will be protected under Museums Sheffield's general insurance policy while on Museums Sheffield premises. However Museums Sheffield is not liable for loss or damage of items during transit.

ii. Transportation of items: Applicants successful in reaching the second stage of the award will be responsible for organising transport of completed works to and from the Award Administration Office and responsible for any costs incurred.

iii. For entries shortlisted and selected for display in the Millennium Gallery Avenue exhibition, Museums Sheffield requests that protective, robust and reusable packaging is used to ensure that the piece is not damaged whilst in transit. Once taken off display, the piece will be repacked in its original packaging and made ready for collection.

iv. A record of all documents submitted to the Award Administration Office must be kept by the applicant, as submitted documents and preparatory material will not be returned.

v. The winning piece selected by the panel, will become part of Sheffield's Designated Metalwork Collection and will be displayed at the discretion of Museums Sheffield.
 
3. Sale of Work
i. Applicants successful in being shortlisted for the second stage of the award but not selected as the final winner, will have the opportunity to sell their work in the Millennium Gallery annual Christmas selling show, Christmas Crackers. Applicants wishing to submit work for sale in this manner should ensure that they fill in the relevant sections on the Application Form. Please Note: VAT will be applied to selling items. Applicants successful in reaching the second stage of the award will be supplied with further information regarding the selling of their work in Christmas Crackers by September 2008.

ii. Applicants who have shortlisted but have chosen not to sell their works in Christmas Crackers will be contacted regarding collection of their pieces by the Award Administration Office by 1 November 2008.
 
4. Information regarding the selection panels decision
i. All applicants will be informed of the selection panels decision by letter.

ii. The selection panel decision is final and can not be contested
 
5. Copyright
Copyright in the work remains with the maker, however, the maker grants permission to Museums Sheffield to take photographs of the work submitted. Museums Sheffield will own copyright of the images and the rights to a non-exclusive world wide licence in perpetuity. In addition all preparatory material, images, drawings, and any completed works submitted to the National Metalwork Design Award 2008 may be used at the discretion of Museums Sheffield in all publicity and media material relating to the Museums Sheffield and the National Metalwork Design Award.
 
6. Data Protection Act
i. Information submitted in the Application Form will only be used by Museums Sheffield and not passed to any third party.

ii. By signing the Declaration in the Application Form you will be giving consent to the storage of personal data and consent to Museums Sheffield contacting you regarding future metalwork related events, exhibitions and awards.
