In the first phase of the Award, entrants are invited to submit preparatory designs in the form of drawings, prototypes or photographs, along with a completed Application Form. The judging panel will select a shortlist of 12 finalists based on these preparatory submissions. It is therefore important that any material supplied at this initial phase is shown to the best possible advantage. Please note that no feedback can be given at this stage of the Award.
In the second phase of the award, the 12 shortlisted finalists will be invited to make and submit their completed works. These works will then be displayed at Museums Sheffield Millennium Gallery before a winner is selected. The winner of the Museums Sheffield Metalwork Design Award will be awarded £10,000 and the winning piece will join Sheffields Designated Metalwork collection. The remaining finalists will be invited to sell their work in the annual Museums Sheffield Christmas Crackers selling exhibition.
