The Museums Sheffield Metalwork Design award was launched in 2008 to demonstrate our belief in the talent and creativity of artists and craftspeople working with metal in the UK. The £10,000 prize was awarded to Cameron Maxfield for his Tea Bag Pot, a stunningly original revision of a design classic; the tea pot. Cameron's work epitomised what the Metalwork Award is about; bold, imaginative and contemporary design which signposts the future of UK metalwork.
For 2010 we are seeking to build on the award's successful launch by inviting entries from as many makers as possible from across the UK. Are you a professional, a studying designer-maker or an amateur? Do you work with metal of any description? If so, you could be the bold and innovative maker Museums Sheffield is looking for.
