Ambitious Audio-Visual Experience by 65daysofstatic leads
Tramlines / PRISM Weekend at Millennium Gallery
An ambitious audio/visual installation and live performances by 65daysofstatic are set to lead the official Tramlines 2013 line-up at the Millennium Gallery next month. Making its debut at the festival’s most unique venue, 65daysofstatic present Sleepwalk City will form part of a weekend of music and contemporary art continuing the ongoing collaboration between Museums Sheffield and PRISM.
Sheffield's 65daysofstatic have spent the last decade establishing a global reputation as a relentless and fearsome live act. With five full length studio albums to their name, recent years have seen them expand their remit to include contemporary dance, film soundtrack work and now, with the commission of Sleepwalk City, sound and visual installation. After headlining the second stage at Tramlines 2012, 65daysofstatic return to Sheffield for their only scheduled hometown appearance this year.
Loosely inspired by Ezra Pound's 'In a Station of the Metro' and the Imagist manifesto, Sleepwalk City will present a unique and immersive audio-visual experience in the Millennium Gallery exploring submersion, noise, and the collapse of everything. Open throughout the Saturday and Sunday of the Tramlines weekend, this unique multi-speaker and digital projection installation will feature original music based on sections of 65daysofstatic’s forthcoming sixth album, released in September 2013.
On the Saturday and Sunday evenings the installation will be accompanied by a series of experimental live performances by the band. Created especially for the festival weekend, these exclusive 30 minute sets will mark 65daysofstatic’s only appearance at Tramlines 2013
