Museums Sheffield is pleased to announce that an agreement has been reached with Sheffield City Council which will see opening hours increase at the Millennium Gallery, Weston Park museum, and the Graves Gallery from 1 July this year.

Opening hours were reduced at the start of May 2011 as a result of a 12% cut to Museums Sheffield's budget. The new Council administration has now fulfilled its pledge to restore some of those lost hours. The new opening hours will see Millennium Gallery open 10am-5pm Monday-Saturday (11am-4pm Sunday), Weston Park open from 10am-5pm Monday-Saturday (11am-4pm Sunday). The Graves Gallery will also open an extra day a week (Wednesday-Friday, 10am-2pm and Saturday 11am-3pm).

Nick Dodd, Chief Executive of Museums Sheffield, says:

'I am delighted and grateful that the new administration has been able to fulfil its pledge to increase our opening hours. This will have a direct benefit for families, schools and the people ofSheffield, 1.25 million of whom visited us last year. It will also enhance the city's tourist economy. We look forward to implementing the changes from 1st July"
