Curatorial Intern (Visual Art)
Salary: £15,000 per annum

This is a 37 hour fixed term post for six months working in our Curatorial Department.
The aim of this internship is to support someone in the early stages of their career to gain greater understanding of the Museums sector and develop relevant curatorial skills and knowledge.
An entry level post, it will provide the opportunity to gain experience and understanding of curatorial work, in order to develop a range of skills required to curate, display and interpret visual art for a wide range of audiences. The post holder will be based within the Curatorial team and the work will encompass the different aspects of curating visual art collections.
This internship is funded by Arts Council England Strategic Support Fund.

Retail Assistant Waiting List
Salary: £13,645 - £16,053 pro rata

We are now recruiting to our Retail Assistant waiting list.
We are looking to form a pool of people to call upon to fulfil future vacancies for positions of 28 hours, 21 hours and 12 hours. The successful candidates will be required to be fully flexible and work on a rota basis across 7 days with no fixed days off.
The Retail Assistant role is crucial to providing a high quality customer experience across all our sites. We are looking for people who are passionate about retail with outgoing personalities who enjoy engaging with customers. Flexibility is essential to the role.

A 20 hours+ position (5 days out of 7) based across 4 city centre sites (Millennium Gallery Graves Gallery, Central Library foyer, Weston Park Museum)
- Duties include: waiting on tables, barista skills, cleaning, counter service and computerised till operation.
- Some late night working will be required (catering for a range evening events)
- The succesful candidate should demonstrate extensive/provable experience
- Basic food hygiene certificate required (training can be provided)
- Uniform will be provided
- We operate a Tronc system for gratuities

Weston Park Museum: A Bright Future
Museums Sheffield has been awarded funding from the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) to develop plans for a major redevelopment of 4 gallery spaces in Sheffield’s Weston Park Museum. The project will bring more of the city’s collections to more people and create inspiring, sustainable new displays where audiences can engage with their heritage.
Aims & Objectives:
- To strengthen Weston Park Museum’s position as a key site for learning about heritage in Sheffield
- To increase physical and intellectual access to Museums Sheffield’s Collections
- To ensure that Weston Park Museum displays are sustainable thereby securing its long term future
As part of this HLF funded project there will be an opportunity for a design agency to work on the project, initially in the Development Stage in 2014 (March to July 2014).
If successful in receiving HLF funding for the project then further design work would take place during the Delivery Stage 2015-6, a full time timetable of work will be outlined in the Stage 2 HLF application.
