Communications Officer

This is a 37 hours temporary post for 7 months.

Our mission is to connect with our visitors, share stories about Sheffield and the wider world, and care for our city’s collections. We’re looking for a confident communicator to help spread the word about the great work we do. If you have experience of garnering press coverage, managing digital platforms, and telling compelling stories about brands, we’d like to hear from you. Your job will be to communicate and promote Museums Sheffield’s work to our different audiences through a variety of channels.

Curator of Archaeology

Salary: £26,000

Ref: MSCA 12/14

This is a 37 hour fixed-term post until 31 March 2018 working in our Curatorial Services department and is funded by Arts Council England.

The Archaeology Collection comprises material dating from pre-history to the twentieth century, predominantly from the Peak District and South Yorkshire. The collection also comprises non-British Archaeology including ancient Egyptian, Greek and Roman objects. The Archaeology Curator is also responsible for a collection of coins, medals and tokens.

The Curator will champion access to the Archaeology collections through collections management, research, exhibitions, events and digital platforms as well as being responsible for processing archaeological archives.

Catering Assistant

A 20 hours+ position (5 days out of 7) based across 4 city centre sites (Millennium Gallery, Graves Gallery, Central Library foyer, Weston Park Museum)

- Duties include: waiting on tables, barista skills, cleaning, counter service and computerised till operation.
- Some late night working will be required (catering for a range evening events)
- The succesful candidate should demonstrate extensive/provable experience
- Basic food hygiene certificate required (training can be provided)
- Uniform will be provided
- We operate a Tronc system for gratuities
